Lovage
(Levisticum officinalis)

Picture
Description:
Lovage is a tall perennial herb used for culinary and medicinal purposes. Leaves and stems have a intense celery flavor. When in bloom, flowers help attract beneficial insects.

Growing:
  • perennial
  • full sun
  • moist well draining soil
  • moderate water
  • harvest: leaves

Herb pairing:
Lovage does well with stuffings, soups, stews, egg dishes, fish, apples, garlic, bay, caraway, chili, chives, dill, marjoram, oregano, parsley and thyme.

How to use?
Use leaves and tender stems sparingly in place of celery. Lovage pungency diminishes in cooking.
