Description:
Watercress is a aquatic perennial plant related to mustard greens. With deep green leaves, crisp and pale colored stems; it's one of the strongest-tasting salad leaves available. It has a pungent, slightly bitter, peppery flavor and is highly nutritious, containing notable amounts of iron, calcium, vitamins A, C and E.

  • moist retentive soil (can live in water)

  • harvest: leaves

Primary use:
  • edible leaves

Herb pairings:
Watercress pairs well with chicken, cucumber, fish, onion, potatoes and salmon, fennel, ginger, parsley, sorrel and other salad herbs.
