Basil is a annual to perennial herb in the mint family, Basil is grown for its aromatic leaves. Basil is native to India and is widely grown as a kitchen herb. The leaves are used fresh or dried to flavor meats, fish, salads, and sauces.

Avoid leaves that are drooping or blackened. Store about 2-3 days in damp paper towel or a plastic bag in the refrigerator vegetable crisper.
